Cetgueli dual purpose gundogs – Sarah Finch show dog handling and gundog training

We are owners of brittany and curly coated retriever stud dogs that are regularly shown and worked. 

​

I am a firm believer in dogs being truly fit for function and for gundogs that are able to fulfil their purpose.  Form follows function, and therefore a dog should look true to its breed type and have the drive and abilities to work as the breed was designed to.

Since 2017 we have regularly competed in gundog working tests, pointing tests, and have even attempted field trials, starting our ‘kennel’ with our first brittany Berwyn (Jassendue Manet's Medley am Cetgueli, who was born in 2016) and expanding with our brittany bitch Patouche Peiam am Cetgueli in 2019. 

Both brittanies are active working gundogs, and have been used for rough shooting (specialising on snipe on the South Wales marshes), dogging in on pheasant shoots, beating, and grouse counting.

 

In 2022 we bought our first curly coated retriever - Molokain Doing the Do at Cetgueli.  “Duke” continues to progress well with his training, and has taken part in a gundog working test.  We are looking forward to him starting his first season as a working gundog on the marsh as a wildfowling dog shortly.

As well as working and training, I also enjoy showing the dogs.  Both brittanies have obtained their stud book numbers, and we are hopeful that our curly coated retriever Duke won’t be far behind.  I regularly compete in adult handling classes, and am keen to handle show dogs for other people.

Overall, I am passionate about dual purpose gundogs, and ensuring that natural working drive continues to be selected for and developed.
