Working results
Duke has been progressing with his gundog training, and we are hoping to compete in some gundog working tests next year.
We were fortunate to be selected as reserve for the Curly Coated Retriever team at the The Minor Breeds Working Test in June 2023. Duke ran the tests and while he struggled on some he did get a fantastic score of 19 out of 20 on his first retrieve.
In the upcoming season Duke will be used for wildfowling, hopefully putting his training into real world practice.

"7 months with typical outline and balance of leg to depth . Head has good planes and tapers to strong jaw. Clean in outline balnced and not too big. He has strength behind and so had the drive that many lacked .Good coat with crisp curls. 2 Stephens’ Ravenho Looks Like Trouble for Brightmeadow. He is a touch rangy and really needs to strengthen in hindquarters. Clean well balanced head ,firm clean neckline. Has depth of chest and ribs lead back to strong loin. Very well handled and good tightly curled coat."

"Very promising dog who on the whole is well constructed. Nice length of neck set neatly in well angulated fore quarters. Very good depth of body for his age with a good overall body shape. Hind quarters are nicely angulated. I look forwards to seeing how this boy develops, Best AVNSC Puppy and later Puppy Group 2."
